My 3 Favorite Cruise Destinations So Far

One of the best parts about cruising is getting to explore so many different places without the stress of flights or unpacking a million times. Each port has its own vibe, and I’ve definitely found some favorites along the way. Here are my top three cruise destinations so far and why I’d go back in a heartbeat.

1. Bermuda

Bermuda is a gem — gorgeous beaches, pastel buildings, lush scenery, history, and easy laid-back fun.

What to See & Do Near the Port

  • Horseshoe Bay Beach — the crown jewel of Bermuda. Famous for its pink sand and turquoise water, this beach is consistently ranked among the world’s most beautiful. It’s perfect for swimming, sunbathing, or exploring the little coves and tide pools along the shoreline. Arrive early to beat the crowds.

  • Royal Naval Dockyard / Snorkel Park Beach — just a short walk from the ship. Great for a quick swim, snorkeling, and beach time without having to travel far.

  • National Museum of Bermuda — located in a historic fort at the Dockyard. It tells the story of Bermuda’s maritime past, British naval history, and shipwrecks.

  • Crystal Cave & Fantasy Cave — stunning underground caverns with dramatic stalactites, stalagmites, and crystal-clear pools.

  • St. George’s — a UNESCO World Heritage site with colonial architecture, quaint shops, and a glimpse of Bermuda’s history.

  • Gibbs Hill Lighthouse — one of the best viewpoints on the island. Climb to the top for sweeping ocean and island views.

Eating, Shopping & Getting Around

  • The Dockyard area has artisan shops and Clock Tower Mall for duty-free finds.

  • Local specialties: try a fish sandwich or sip on Bermuda’s signature Rum Swizzle cocktail.

  • Transportation is simple — ferries, buses, and taxis make it easy to hop between beaches and attractions.

Pro Tip: Decide early if you want a beach day or an exploring day — both are amazing, but trying to squeeze it all in can feel rushed.

2. Grand Cayman

If you love snorkeling or diving, Grand Cayman is a dream come true. The water is crystal clear, the beaches are stunning, and the marine life is unforgettable.

Devil’s Grotto & Eden Rock Snorkeling

  • Just a 5-minute walk from the port, these reef sites are some of the best I’ve experienced. There are caves, tunnels, and coral formations that make it feel like you’re swimming through an underwater playground.

  • Sea life here is incredible: we’ve spotted lobster, giant tarpon, stingrays, and even an octopus! Schools of tiny silverside fish shimmer in the water during the summer months, making it magical.

Other Highlights

  • Seven Mile Beach — world-famous for its soft sand and calm turquoise waters. Perfect for relaxing or water sports.

  • Smith’s Cove — a smaller, more peaceful beach close to George Town with good snorkeling and a family-friendly vibe.

  • Local food in George Town — fresh seafood and Caribbean flavors are everywhere. Try jerk chicken, conch fritters, or a beachside grilled fish.

Tips: Snorkel in the morning when the water is calmest. If you have your own gear, bring it to save time and avoid rental lines.

3. St. Thomas (U.S. Virgin Islands)

St. Thomas offers the perfect mix of dramatic mountain views, stunning beaches, and lively culture.

Coki Beach

  • Our favorite snorkel spot on the island! The reef begins right off the shoreline, and you’ll find tons of colorful fish, coral, and even the occasional sea turtle.

  • The vibe is lively with food and drink vendors, snorkel rentals, and plenty of chairs and umbrellas.

  • Just watch out for sea urchins near the rocky areas — water shoes are a smart idea.

Other Beaches & Attractions

  • Secret Harbor — calm waters and a quieter atmosphere, great for a more relaxed day.

  • Lindquist Beach (Smith Bay Park) — a less crowded option with beautiful scenery and plenty of reef for snorkeling.

  • Mountain Top Lookout — one of the best panoramic views of the Virgin Islands, and a fun spot to grab a world-famous banana daiquiri.

  • Charlotte Amalie — the main town, filled with shopping, jewelry stores, and history if you’d like to spend some time off the beach.

Tips: Check how many cruise ships are in port — it makes a big difference in beach crowd levels. Bring cash for vendors, and plan to arrive early at popular beaches for the best spot.
